TEAM USA 2022

THE DEDICATION OF THE NEW YORK LIONS ADAPTIVE BLIND BASEBALL TEAM AND THE SUPPORT AND FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN OF THE FINANCIAL DISTRICT LIONS CLUB HAS ENABLED THE UNITED STATES WINNING THE FIRST BRONZE MEDAL AND GET ONE STEP CLOSER TO COMPETE IN THE PARALYMPICS.

TEAM USA WON THE BRONZE - AND ARE NOW, ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE PARALYMPICS

  • The above players represented the United States at the First WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup in the Netherlands.  To represent the USA best players were selected by the Italian Organization AIBXC coaches Eva Trevisan, Priscilla Brondi and Don Landolphi.   Majority of the player are Lions members of the Financial District Lions Club.  Thanks to the leadership and support of  the Financial District Lions Club that launched a fundraising campaign and support of donors and sponsors these men and women were able to travel and compete at this first grand tournament for the blind and visually impaired.  Donations are 100% tax deductible. 


    New York Lions selected to represent the Unites States:  Donald Landolphi, Head Coach and Representative for AIBxC; Bruce Starks, Head Coach; Alex Barrera, Captain;  Christina Frey, Coach; Robert David Casselas, Coach; Lilly Harris, Coach; Robert Weeks; Renzy Bhagwandeen; Kiana Glanton.  Non-Lions players: Amanda  Makson and Michael Walsh, and volunteer player Ed Plumacher who originally coached NY LIONS members in 2015 and other blind and visually impaired who would show up in the park to play this game and called themselves "NEW YORK BASHERS".  Since 2015 Blind and Visually impaired would show up in the park os New York to play the game, but it was not until Lions stepped in to help that the first League was formed in the United States whose players are Lions members of the Financial District Lions Club.  With the Lions' support more teams are expected to be formed in the USA and where Lions' has a presence.
